Some funny things we have been doing lately….
Lila, only while in the bathtub for some reason, has started sticking her figures in her ears. At first I thought, oh no her ears must be bother her but no she does this and get a puzzled look on her face (like I can’t hear everyone as well) and then takes her figures out and just laughs and laughs. She has really started talking well as she has started to repeat alot of things you say to her. She says tree “tee”, eat “eettt”, feet “eet”. nose “oose” and so on. I just love to hear her talk and I am impressed with her ability to learn and catch on to things so quickly. We have even started learning to count. She knows that after one comes two and she will say it and then has even said three next a few times or if she misses two she will say three. She knows where her nose, eyes, mouth and ears are and her favorite is pointing at mommy’s teeth and saying “teeeh”. Daddy taught her how to give kisses except she will put her lip together and really think about it and then lean in for the smooch and then just smiles.
Awe Carter, he is full of character. When he gets excited he gets the big grin (like above) all over his face, puts his hands down to his side and does a little shake like he just can’t seem to contain his excitement. Then he will come running towards you with hands extended in the air and he will do this to anyone. He is definitely Mr Friendly as he will let anyone hold him and loves making new friends big and small. And he gives the best hugs. He sits in your lap and extends his arms around your neck and just hugs and of course he still loves to give his open mouth kisses but I will take those any day. He can be a very busy boy and just loves figuring out how things works. Wheels are his favorite and he will turn a toy stroller over or his trucks just to play with the wheels.
Madelyn has started pointing her finger at everything and everyone. If you have something she wants she will point and you and give you this look like you better give it to me now because I am watching you (especially with food). She loves it when we sing and her favorite songs are “the wheels on the bus” and “if your happy and know it”. When we sing the latter she loves to clap and when we say your face will surely show it she puts her hands on her face. She loves to stomp but hasn’t figured out the hands in the air for amen. And she loves to wiggle wiggle wiggle anytime she hears music. She loves waving at everything and everyone. After bath time we always look in the mirror and she will wave at herself and put her lips together like she is about the whistle and say “ohhhh”.
I painted the girls toes for the first time
Lila loved getting her them painted
Madelyn not so much…she wanted to play with the paint but we got it done.

Last Sunday, we walked in the March for Babies to support the March of Dimes. We were so excited for our second walk that we even braved the chilly weather! There were thousands upon thousands of people at this walk. Some walking because their companies support the March of Dimes others celebrating a child born premature that has survived and yet this time I noticed more walking in memory of a child they had losed due to prematurity. Seeing the pictures of their precious baby with wires and tubes really brought alot of memories back of our time in the NICU. However, I was also sadden at the thought that these parents never got the opportunity to see their child free of them or even more devastating a chance to welcome their baby home. I felt so humbled and almost guilty that God had chosen for our babies to not only survive prematurity but to beat all the odds. We walked to celebrate our premature babies but we also walked and will continue to walk to help the March of Dimes fund more research projects to help babies born premature so that we can see more babies being celebrated and less being remembered.
Ready to walk…our sign says “we are 31 weekers” with the exception that most people read from left to right…What do you expect at 8am???
This side of our train says our name, birth weight and current weight
Daddy pulled the train the whole time!!
And Lila feel asleep toward the end of the walk. Her hand must be numb.
Out cold
Carter has had enough day. He kept putting his blanket over his head.
It turned out to be a beautiful day~
Balloons for everyone
Carter busted 3 balloons because he kept trying to eat it and he also thought they made an excellent pillow.
On Wednesday, we went to Totter Otterville with our friend Autumn. We have been dying to go (well maybe mommy had been) and it was much fun. I wasn’t sure how they would do or if it would even be age appropriate but they loved it. I took the train in with us because I wasn’t sure of the set up. It was small enough that I could actually let them run a little without feeling like they were completely out of site. But the train came in handy when we needed to move to other area because there was always someone who wasn’t ready to go.
First off we visited the pretend area which included a pretend house, dress up, restaurant and grocery store.
Lila love the babies. She kept bringing me babies saying “baaaaybe baaaaybe”. My friend, Elana was rolling in laughter that she already had the county accent…it so true!
Miss Elana getting Carter dressed up for his grocery store duties
He thought he was so cool in apron. He was running that grocery store trying to make sure everyone was getting everything they needed.
This was the only picture I managed to get of Autumn. She was so busy playing. Look at all of those curls…so pretty!
Madelyn like the dress up room where there was a washing machine. She kept opening and closing the doors.
Carter was making friends with all the kids. He wanted to hang out with everyone especially the boys. To the point that the older boys were like get away little kids..haha! He also ran after some mommy with his hands up in the air with that big smile like I know you pick me up. It was hilarious. Mr Friendly!
This was the area for kids 18 months and under and they had a ball in here. Everything was padded so they couldn’t get hurt and their favorite part was the tunnel.
Lila loved the ballet area. She was dancing in a circle and watching the ballerinas on the screen. Then she just loved when the older girl came over and was trying to show her some moves.
I was actually very impressed with my kids and how developed they really are when it comes to figuring things out. It was the first time I have seen them just jump right in and play to figure out what they needed to do. This was a favorite…they put the blocks in the hole and then they had to press a button where the block would ride on a belt and then fall down into a hole on the other side.
Putting blocks in
Pressing the button
Getting the blocks. Madelyn made friends with another mommy. She just thought it was hilarious that she was putting the blocks on her head.
And ready to do it again.
Lila sorting the mail at the post office
And then came the water…of course they had smocks for them to wear but they didn’t help. We were drinking the water, splashing it, pouring it on ourselves and having a good old time.
It was a fun day…Lila, Carter, Madelyn and Autumn
Teeth update:
Madelyn is currently cutting 4 teeth at once (poor thing) two molars on her right side and one molar on her left and one of her bottom teeth in the front.
Carter just cut one of his molars on his right side and is getting another on his left
Lila is just happy with her 6 teeth!!
